Tasks from the field of geodesy (in its narrow sense) are provided mainly for the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia. These are R&D projects intended for the modernisation and maintenance of the Slovenian spatial reference system, as well as tasks related to the promotion of different geodetic marks as being geodetic heritage. <\/div>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1545045588007{padding-top: 25px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]We actively participated in the development of the Strategy for the Basic Geodetic System of Slovenia. As well as the establishment of a new, high-quality national spatial reference system based on the common European Spatial Reference System (ESRS).<\/p>\n

In the first decade of this century, we were involved in the design and construction of the SIGNAL<\/a> national network of permanent GNSS stations. In the second decade, we were involved in the design and construction of the Combined Geodetic Network (CGN) or 0. order network<\/a>. We run the GNSS Service, which comprises an analysis, operations and data centre. The service is responsible for the management of the SIGNAL<\/a> and 0. order networks<\/a>, data processing, quality control and dissemination of data to network users. As well as expansions of both networks. The GNSS Service provides real-time access to the national spatial reference system with centimetre positioning accuracy.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]We have been involved in the development of transformation models for the transition between the old D48 and the new D96 coordinate reference system. We have developed a protocol for the transition to the new coordinate system for all spatial databases of the Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Slovenia.<\/p>\n

Our research work in geodesy covers both geometric and physical geodesy, i.e., the study of the shape and dimension of the Earth, its gravitational field and the geoid surface. We are also involved in measuring and modelling the Earth’s magnetic field and studying the Earth’s atmosphere.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]We are also involved in the promotion of geodetic marks belonging to different geodetic networks as geodetic immovable heritage. In this way, we link past geodetic networks with today’s and raise public awareness of the importance of geodesy for society at large. In the year 2022 we published two brochures named Geodetic Highlights<\/a> to promote selected geodetic points to the general public.<\/p>\n
